EACH DAY YOU'RE WORKING ON RESEARCH:
Log in to GCPS portal, G Suite, Media Center page, and SCRIBLE. Add Scrible Toolbar as necessary. We will complete a practice source on Chris McCandless's life for the research procedure.
- Find a first source in Biography in Context. (See link below) and add the article to the Scrible library.
- Click the quotation mark icon in Scrible. Make any corrections or additions before pasting it in on the Research Collection Document for Source 1. Remember these are just the first part of the longer Works Cited entry, such as the author's last name or the title of the article if no author is listed.
- Type in the correct parenthetical citation for this source in both columns of row number one for the first fact. All sentences in your paper using the comment on your fact with have the parenthetical citation.
- Begin skimming and reading the facts about your person, highlighting in Scrible the sentences (quotations, passages) that you think will help you explain how your person developed into a rebel, formulated a quest, and worked to complete it.
- Your five favorites from each source will be copied into the Google Doc along with an original sentence or so as you would explain fact to explain the rebel-quest connection for your person. This goes in the COMMENT column.
- Then repeat the process with two other sources, making sure not to duplicate facts from prior sources.
- You will have 15 top facts linking your person's life with his or her aspect of rebellion and the quest involved to form the foundation of your essay.

Once you have a comprehensive understanding of the person you have chosen to research, write a well-developed essay about him or her. In your essay you should analyze this individual’s choice to live or operate outside the usual bounds of society.
The main goal of your paper should address the following: Did this individual find success on his or her quest?
Your research should answer the following questions: What stumbling blocks did this person encounter along the way? What did this individual learn? What did others learn from this individual? Be sure to support your argument with specific and relevant evidence from the researched information you found, citing the material accordingly.
Your final submission consist of 3-5 pages, three sources (correlating to at least three in-text citations) on their Works Cited page, and everything adhering to MLA standards.
