2. Research
Use EasyBib.com to cite at least three sources. Use the College and Career Lib Guide from the Media Center site to find Career Cruising, O*Net, and Occupational Outlook Handbook. Gather facts about a job that interests you from two of the different health care pathways. You will make each of the following topics a title on your EasyBib notecards and will complete them with information from your sources. Your completed note cards will also be a classwork grade.
a. Career Name and Job Description, including core duties performed
b. Personal Qualities and Traits needed for a successful career
c. Educational Requirements, including at least two programs of study in the state of Georgia that would allow one to become qualified.
d. Job outlook
e. Licensure or certification requirements
f. Working conditions
g. Salary scale, expected salary range and anticipated entry-level salary
h. Opportunities for advancement in a typical career path
i. Insider information: summarize some advice or information from online interviews of people who have this job.
3. Writing & Career Folder Contents:
a. Create two Job Postings / Job Information Sheets, one for each career you examined. Your research will go into a Word Document or Publisher Document that is essentially a Help Wanted flier. It should contain all the information from 2a-2i above. Be sure to paraphrase facts from your EasyBib notecards, or to quote small sections. b. Write at least three interview questions for each of the jobs you researched.
c. Choose one of those two researched jobs as your top pick, and create a "Future Me" resume, what you would have done in terms of education and experience to be the perfect candidate to land the job after you complete your job-related school and training. See below for ideas on formatting.
d. Share your job postings with others in your class to give them a chance to sign up to interview for either of your jobs. You will also choose two other jobs, posted by your classmates, for which you would like to interview. You will write a paper listing the jobs for which your interviewed and your comments about the experience.
e. Final Thoughts write-up:
After completing the career activities, what are your thoughts about which job or jobs would be the best fit for you and why. Have you eliminated any jobs or gotten any new ideas about areas of healthcare or training that you might try down the road? What high school courses, activities, or extra-curricular activities, including jobs or volunteer work, would best equip you for your top choice jobs down the road?
Folder contents will be a test/ project summative assessment grade.
