I. Images & Charts about Eating Disorders: (~2 pairs of partners per table) You will travel to each of 9 tables to take about 2 minutes to "read" the images, charts, pictures at each. Each pair will write at least one thoughtful comment or question inspired by the image on the chart paper at that table.
II. Looking at Basic Information & Definitions: (2-3 pairs of partners per table) Each student will get a brief overview text on eating disorders in general. In addition, each table will get information on one of six different causes associated with eating disorders. With both readings, students will use text codes to guide a discussion of what they read. The cause your table gets will be the main topic for your inquiry and your position for the class debate about why your cause is the most dangerous or influential.
III. Inquiry with Sources: Use these three online resources to find statistics, facts, and quotations for the Causes Debate. All have sections on eating disorders and body image. Type in "media" to Internet Explorer. Choose HIGH, and find these in the alphabetical list.
SHORT CITATION only: For the source part of your debate preparations, use the source information at the end of the article or use EasyBib for website sources.
